To help qualify for work with the Swingshift Nurses you must obtain Registration as a division 1 Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia provides information and mechanisms for nurses to make enquiries and place registration applications.

When you take photocopies of original documents to be certified as true copies of the original, make sure the authorized person states on the copy at least that they have "sighted the original and that this copy is a true copy of the original".

If you have undertaken a nursing education program in a country in which English is not the first language; it will be necessary for you to first demonstrate your proficiency in English. The Board accepts the following English language skills tests:

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test 
An individual band score of at least 6.5 in Reading and Listening, and a score of at least 7.0 in Writing and Speaking with an overall band score of 7.0 or more must be achieved.

 Pre-registration programs for overseas qualified nurses 

If you are assessed as requiring a pre-registration/ supervised practice program, the letter should be presented to the institution/hospital at which you apply for a vacancy. Entry to an accredited pre-registration program in higher education institutions normally requires an Australian residential permit.

The purpose of the assessment period is to provide you with an orientation to the health care system in Victoria and to enable you to demonstrate your ability to function as a registered nurse in this State. It will be necessary for you to contact the institution/hospital of your choice for admission to complete the pre-registration requirements.
